Narat Grassland located in the east of the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, between southern and northern Xinjiang. The word “Narat” means “the place where the sun shines.” It got it’s name from Ghengis Khan 800 years ago, when he arrived there after an expedition through wind and snow. It is a vast grassland along the foot of the snow-capped Tianshan Mountains, one of the world’s four major grasslands－subalpine meadow area, and has been a famous pasture since ancient times. The plain has open and flat valleys and towering peaks, as well as the deep gorges and lush forests, forming a tourist resort combining sightseeing tour, scientific investigation, recreation, summer vacation, and buying souvenirs, with local Kazakh folk customs.
