Once a major Buddhism center, an important city on the silk road, Kucha is a large oasis town at the north of Taklamakan desert, south of Tianshan Mountain range. Now, Kucha is a large city with both modern and traditional elements. The Kucha township has about 600 thousand populations mostly Uighur and Han Chinese. Now, it is an important industrial and agricultural area for the region. Surrounding villages produces cotton, wheat, walnut and apricot. There are some attractions worth to visit, the old town, Grand mosque, local Bazaar, Kezil Buddha Caves, Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon.
