Altay prefecture located in the area between the southern foot of Altay mountains and most northern part of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. It is the place where the ancient grassland Silk Road went by. It is a relatively abundant water area in Xinjiang, known as the "water tower" in the north of Xinjiang, and also one of the six major forest areas in China. Altay borders with three countries, Mongolia in the northeast, Russia in the north and Kazakhstan in the northwest. The landform type is complex and diverse, dry and hot in summer and cold in winter, with a total area of 117989.21 square kilometers and a total population of 671616 in 2017. There are several rivers, such as, Irtish river, Burqin River, and Bulunku river flow through in Altay, the Irtish river is the only river in China which joins to the Arctic ocean. It is land full of luxuriant pastures and forests with plentiful precipitations, good for farming and herding. It is cool in Summer and very cold in winter. Altay means “gold”in Turkic and Mongolian language. It is well known for rich gold mine reserves in Altay mountains and fishery in the Urunkul Lake and Irtish river.

Arrive in Urumqi

Day 2
Urumqi –fly to Altai
Altay region is the only region bordering Russia in Northwest China. It is an important node city of the northern passage of the Silk Road Economic Belt and Xinjiang's participation in the construction of China Mongolia Russia economic corridor, with 4 national land ports;
In the morning, Transfer to airport to fly Altay, flight takes approximately 1 hour, after arrival visit ancient Local ski making, afternoon visit General Ski place, visit Ice carving. overnight in Altai.

Day 3
Altai to Hemu
After breakfast, Drive to Burqin by small car or bus, in Burqin, swich on 4WD SUV to Hemu Villages, The houses in Hemu village are all made of logs, full of primitive flavor. The most famous is Wanshan's red and intoxicating autumn color. The cooking smoke rises slowly in the autumn color, forming a dreamlike smoke belt, which is better than fairyland. On the hillside around Hemu village, you can overlook the panorama of Hemu village and Hemu river

Drive to Kanas Lake
After breakfast, Travel to Kanas Lake, 40 Kilometers away, There is a Junction Pass over 2400 meters, has thick and very good snow for ski, Kanas Lake: National AAAAA tourist attraction, National Geopark, National Forest Park, China Nature Reserve, National Natural Heritage, national low-carbon tourism experimental area, China's most beautiful lake, Kanas Lake is known as the "fairyland and God's garden".

Kanas to Altai Airport –fly to Urumqi
Drive back to Altay airport, fly to Urumqi.
