Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Lanzhou
Our guide will welcome you at the Lanzhou airport and take you to the Hotel, Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu province, an important industrial base and comprehensive transportation hub of northwest China, a node city on the silk road economic belt, important stop on the ancient silk road. Humans thrived here 5,000 years ago.

Day 2
Lanzhou Tour
In the morning, we will visit Iron Bridge, it is located at the foot of Bai Ta Mountain and near the Jin Cheng Pass, believed to be the first bridge over Yellow River. Then we visit the famous Mother Statue of Yellow River, the mother represents the Yellow River and baby represents Chinese Beings, at the end visit the 500 years old Irrigation System Waterwheel. Overnight in Lanzhou.

Day 3
Lanzhou to Xiahe via Binglingsi
After breakfast, we travel to Binglingsi Grottoes, located in the north of Yong Jing County, where the Yellow River join to the Liujiaxia Reservoir. Binglingsi Grottoes is one of the five Grottoes in China, was started to construct in 420AD, and more caves were dug till Qing Dynasty. Currently there are 183 caves, 694 stone sculptures and 82 clay statues in the Site. Then we visit the Sangke Grassland, it is situated 10km southwest of Xiahe Town, at the elevation of 3,000m above sea level. Overnight in Xiahe.

Day 4
Xiahe to Zhangye via Lanzhou
In the morning, we visit the Labrang monastery in Xiahe county, which means the residence of the living Buddha In the Tibetan language. It is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Lamasery covers 86.7 hectares and about 2.5km in perimeter, has about 10,000 rooms, which are enough to more than 3,000 Lamas to stay in, opened for tourists in 1980. After we finish in the Monastery we will travel to Lanzhou and take the high-speed train to Zhangye. Overnight in Zhangye.

Day 5
Zhangye to Jiayuguan,230km, 3hours
After breakfast, we visit the Giant Buddha Temple which located in the center of the city and is the typical building in Zhangye, was built in 11century AD. After that we drive 40km west to Danxia National Geopark, it is the only Danxia landform and colored hilly landscape complex, it is the most developed and most fertile area of Danxia landform in China. Is a typical representative of China's colored Danxia. Stay in Jiayuguan .

Day 6
Jiayuguan to Dunhuang
In the morning, we drive to the Weijin Ancient Tomb, it is located in the desert, 20km northeast of Jiayuguan city, Wei-Jin Art Gallery is not really an art gallery, but an ancient tombs of more than 1400, and have wall paintings, which could trace back to 220-419 AD during Wei and Jin dynasties. Then we visit Jiayuguan Fort, which is 7km southwest of Jiayuguan city, and it is the westernmost end of the Great Wall in China. It was built during Ming Dynasty and was greatest and best preserved military fortress. After this we travel to Dunhuang, it is a very important silk road city with the mixed four world culture. Stay in Dunhuang.

Day 7
Dunhuang Tour
In the morning, we drive to Yumenguan pass, it is 80km away from Dunhuang city. Yumen guan means jade gate pass, it is the beginning of the Western Regions road which opened by Han Wudi. Jade gate pass got it’s name because jade was imported from Western Regions through here. It was the gateway to the western regions during the Han dynasty. Then we visit Han Dynasty Great Wall, it is about 7km away from Yumenguan Pass and was built for defending the Huns. It is the best-preserved great wall of Han Dynasty. After noon, we drive about 80km northwest to the Yardan Geopark, the park covers an area of 346.34 square kilometers, the geological relics mainly formed by wind erosion. In November 2006, it rated as the AAAA tourist attraction by the national tourism bureau. After that, we travel back to Dunhuang, and have dinner at Shazhou night market. Overnight in Dunhuang.

Day 8
Dunhuang to Turpan by Train
After breakfast, we drive to the Singing Sand Dunes. It is at the same location with the Crescent Moon Lake, called Yueyaquan in Chinese, which is a crescent-shaped pool in the oasis, just inside of the Singing Sand Dunes, 5 km southwest of the Dunhuang city. The Mingsha Sand mountain is just like a golden dragon winding its way over the horizon. When you come closer, you find that it has many colors ranging from red to yellow, green, black and white. After finish enjoying the sand dunes, we will drive to the Mogao Grottoes, which is the largest and best-preserved Buddhism art treasure house in China, It is especially famous for it’s great number of delicate murals and statues. All together it has 492 caves housing over 2,000 statues and more than 50,000 square yards of murals. We will spend our time here before dinner, and take the overnight train to Turpan.

Day 9
Turpan tour
After breakfast, drive to Bezeklik Thousand Buddha caves, which is 40km east of Turpan city, on the way see the flaming mountain and marvelous landscapes, at the Bezeklik caves you will understand the flourished Buddhism in the past from 5-14th country and different art of mural. Then we will drive back Turpan city, and visit Sultan minaret which was build 1777, and it is the only Minaret in Xinjiang built with Mosque. After lunch, we will visit Turpan Museum, where we will see, many cultural relics were found from Turpan area, including mummies to dinosaur fossils. After that, we visit Karez underground irrigation system, it is one of the three ancient achievements of China together with the Great wall and Beijing - Hangzhou Grand canal. Then we visit Jiaohe ruins which was built 2300 years ago by digging the earth and it is the best preserved ruined city in China. Overnight in Turpan.

Day 10
Turpan to Hevenly Lake(Tianchi), 280km
Early in the morning, we travel to Urumqi to visit Heavenly Lake, Heavenly Lake is 80km north east of Urumqi city. When we arrive at the ticket office, take the shuttle bus for the mountain road, then have lunch as soon as we arrived the Lake. Then we will have enough time to explore the most beautiful land in Xinjiang. Heavenly Lake Geo park surrounded with windless snowcapped mountains and pine trees, the famous Boghda Ata peak(5445m) is located at the south side of the lake. You can enjoy the fresh water by riding the pleasure boat. After that, we will drive back to Urumqi for overnight.

Day 11
Urumqi to Kashgar by flight
Today we take morning flight to Kashgar. After arrival, we visit Apak hoja tomb, which was built 1640 by Apak hoja’s father, whoja family ruled Kashgar area from mid 17th to mid 18th century. After lunch, we visit Sunday Market, it is the biggest bazaar in Xinjiang, and we can see all the local stuff, including handicrafts to clothes, dry fruits to foods from Xinjiang, Inland China and as well as neighboring countries. Then we walk in to the Old town of Kashgar, it is located down town of Kashgar city, there you can see people still living in their beautiful old hoses, and the streets are very attracting. then visit the biggest Arabic style mosque in China Id kah mosque, it was built in 1442 by the local ruler, about 30 thousand people can pray in one time. Overnight in Kashgar.

Day 12
Kashgar to Karakul lake,200km
In the morning drive to the Livestock market which is 15km west of Kashgar city, it only opens on Sundays, is a place kind of very interesting and different, people still doing trade in ancient ways. Then we drive to karakul lake along the Karakorum High way. On the way, we stop and take photo at the Opal village, which once the summer resort of Karahani kingdom during 9-13 centuries. Red mountain at Oytagh Valley, enjoy the beautiful landscape, then white sand mountain at corner lake. After drive 200km, we will arrive at the Karakul Lake, it is an alpine lake at the elevation of 3600m above sea level, the lake surrounded by giant mountains, which remain snow-covered throughout the year, the three highest peaks visible from the lake are the Muztagh Ata (7,546 m), Kongur Tash(7,719 m) and Kongur Tiube (7,530 m). Muztagh ata mountain is considered the easiest mountain to climb among above 7000m high mountains. you can ride horse, camel or hike around the lake. Then we will drive back to Kashgar to Overnight.

Day 13
Kashgar to Urumqi, and back to sweet Home by flight
n the morning, we drive to kashgar airport, and fly to Urumqi. after arrival, visit Xinjiang regional museum where we can see thousands of cultural and historical relics were excavated in Xinjiang area, including 3800 years old natural mummies. If time allows, we go to the Urumqi grand Bazaar, see the Bazzar and have lunch. After that, you drive to Urumqi airport to fly back Home, say goodbye to your guide and end the China Silk Road Tour.
