Itinerary
Day 01
Arrive in Dunhuang by morning flight.
Crescent Moon Lake and Mingsha Mountain located just five kilometer south of Dunhuang city. It is an amazing view that a lake surrounded by sand dunes. You can enjoy there by camel riding, sand sliding etc. Night market of Dunhuang is a good place to walk around, have a dinner and shopping for souvenirs. Overnight in Yurt at Sand Desert in Dunhuang, you are going to experience to stay in a Yurt on desert, forget about the modern hotel and city life at least one night.

Day 02
Dunhuang Tour, bullet train to Turpan
Mogao grottoes considered as the best preserved Buddha caves in China. The scale and variety of wall paints and statues fascinate you. After lunch, you will take the bullet train to Turpan, another famous oasis town.

Day 03
Turpan Tour
Turpan is a very multicultural area, Turpan is the lowest and hottest basin in China. The Flaming mountain is so dry that not a single plant grow on it. Jiaohe ruins is best preserved Soil structured city ruins in china, also a UNESCO site. The Kariz is underground irrigation system which has been used for almost 2000 years. You may compare the Bizeklik Buddha caves with Mogao grottoes.

Day 04
Turpan to heavenly Lake, then to Urumqi
After breakfast, drive to all the way to the Heavenly lake. It is located on the top of Tianshan mountain, one of the most green and most beautiful places in western China, the surface of the lake is 1910 meters above sea level. views of natural forests and grassland are drastic contrast with the view of dry landscapes in Dunhuang and Turpan.

Day 05
Urumqi to Southern mountain, 70km.
After breakfast, we visit Xinjiang museum, it is a place to know the people, cultures and history of the region. After the museum we will drive to the southern mountains, originally inhabited by nomadic Kazaks. You can go hiking on the mountain and ride horse. Then we go back to Urumqi and visit Grand Bazaar for and have dinner, it is market for both locals and tourists. You can find all the local special fruits, handcrafts and musical instruments here.

Day 06
Urumqi to Korla，480km.
In the morning, we travel to Korla, we will pass through different landscapes like semi-desert, dry mountains, oasis towns and natural lakes. In the afternoon, will visit the Bosten lake, the biggest fresh water lake in the China. Today, the journey is long but meaningful, you will realize the vastness of the area.

Day 07
Korla to Kucha, 300km
From Korla to Kucha, the landscape is mostly dry, the high way is just between the Tianhsan mountains and oasis, go along with original silk road tracks. Kucha is the biggest oasis town in Xinjiang, has a long history and culture. You can feel that after you visit the Kucha grand Temple and buddha caves.

Kucha Tour
The mountain landscape on the way is fantastic. Kizil thousand buddha caves is 70 km out of Kucha town. The caves was built between 3-8th century AC, one of the earliest and biggest buddha caves in China. Tianshan mysterious grand canyon is located south foot of Tianshan, a naturally formed narrow, deep canyon. The mountain is very dry and color of soil is reddish.

Day 09
Kucha to Hotan along the Taklamakan desert highway, 650km
Taklamakan is the second biggest shifting sand desert in the world after Saharra. Today is a long drive, you may not able have a proper lunch in desert, but it must be pretty special to have picnic on the sand dunes.

Hotan tour
Hotan is a big oasis in southern Xinjiang, located just north of Tibet, south of Taklamakan desert. Hotan oasis depends on the water from the Karakurum mountains. it is famous for its best quality of Jade stones and handmade silk fabrics.

Day 11
Hotan to Kashgar,530km
The road from Hotan to kashgar get along between desert and oasis land, On the way, we will pass through many different oasis towns, including Kargilik, Yarkant and Yingjisar.

Day12
Kashgar city Tour.
After breakfast, we will visit the Id Kah Temple, biggest one in Xinjiang. There is a handcraft street around the mosque to visit. Then visit Appak Hoja Tomb, a very special royal family Tomb which was built 17th century, a unique combination of Uighur traditional architecture. After lunch, we will visit the old town of Kashgar. The old town might be high light of your tour. It is not only about construction, but also the people living in the town, their daily life fascinates you.

Day 13
Kashgar to Tashkorgan along the Karakorum highway, 300km
It is about 7 hours driving to Tashkorgan through famous Karakorum high way. On the way, we can stop at the local Villages, mountain valley, white sand mountain, and visit Karakul Lake, it is an alpine lake surrounded by high mountain peaks, including the famous Muztag-Ata (father of ice mountain).

Day 14
Tashkorgan to Kashgar
In the morning, we visit Golden grassland, it is the largest and very beautiful grassland around Kashgar, located between two mountains, local Tajik nomads keep their animals and Yurts on the grassland during the summer. After spending a few hours on the grassland, we will visit the ruins of Stone Castle, which was a military stronghold built about 2000 years ago, then drive back to Kashgar.

Day 15
Kashgar to Shipton’s Arch,70km
In the morning, we visit Kashgar livestock market, it is a very local, trading market for live animals, View of hundreds of sheep, cattle, horse and camels and people at the market reminds you the layout markets of mid-centuries. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Shipton’s Arch, a mountain site about 70 km away from Kashgar, maybe the highest natural arch in the world. On the way, you we will pass through very dry landscape and some oasis, main feature of southern Xinjiang.
