Kashgar, the historic meeting point of the North and South Silk Roads, has been a crossroads of cultures and trade for centuries. From here, ancient caravans split towards Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and beyond, eventually reaching as far as Rome. This tour begins in Kyrgyzstan, entering China via the Torugart Pass near Naryn. After two days exploring the Kashgar region, the journey concludes by exiting to Kyrgyzstan via the Irkeshtam Pass near Osh.
Itinerary
Day 1: Kyrgyzstan to Kashgar via Torugart Pass
Highlights: Torugart Pass, Kashgar
Early in the morning, depart from Naryn, Kyrgyzstan, and travel to Kashgar, China. Note: Transportation on the Kyrgyz side can be arranged by us upon request. Please inform us via email if you need assistance. Upon arrival at the border, our Kashgar guide and driver will welcome you and take you to Kashgar. The immigration office is 120km from the border. Kashgar, home to 4 million people, is predominantly populated by ethnic Uyghurs. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and check into your hotel. Overnight: Kashgar

Day 2: Kashgar to Karakul Lake – 200km (5 hours)
Highlights: The Karakoram Highway (KKH), Opal Village, Oytagh Valley, White Sand Mountain, Karakul Lake
Depart from Kashgar and travel southwest along the Karakoram Highway (KKH), following the ancient Silk Road route to Pakistan. Stop at Opal Village to purchase food for a picnic at Karakul Lake。 Visit Oytagh Valley and White Sand Mountain for stunning photo opportunities. Arrive at Karakul Lake, situated at an elevation of 3,600m and surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of Muztagh Ata (7,546m) and Kongur (7,719m). Enjoy free time to walk around the lake, ride horses, and soak in the breathtaking scenery. Return to Kashgar in the evening. Overnight: Kashgar

Day 3: Kashgar City Tour
Highlights: Apak Hoja Tomb, Kashgar Livestock Market, Sunday Bazaar, Kashgar Old Town, Id Kah Mosque, Handicrafts Street
Begin the day at the Apak Hoja Tomb, built in 1640. This chamber tomb houses 72 members of the Hoja family across five generations. Drive 15km west to the Kashgar Livestock Market, where ancient trading traditions come alive. After lunch, explore the Sunday Bazaar, the largest traditional market in China, offering everything from spices to handicrafts. Stroll through Kashgar Old Town, where locals live in beautifully preserved traditional homes. Visit the Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China, built in 1442. This iconic Arabic-style mosque can accommodate up to 30,000 worshippers at once. Explore Handicrafts Street, a vibrant area filled with handmade goods, from exotic musical instruments to traditional kitchenware. Return to the hotel after dinner. Overnight: Kashgar

Day 4: Kashgar to Kyrgyzstan via Irkeshtam Pass

Early in the morning, depart Kashgar for the Irkeshtam Pass. The immigration office is 80km from the city, and the border is approximately 150km away. After completing border formalities, bid farewell to your guide and driver. A Kyrgyz driver will take you to Osh, the nearest city in Kyrgyzstan. Note: Transportation on the Kyrgyz side can be arranged by us upon request. Please inform us in advance if you need assistance. Your Kyrgyzstan-Kashgar Silk Road Tour concludes here.
