Karamay

It is located in the west of Junggar basin, the central area of Eurasia pan Central Asia, and the gathering area of world petroleum and petrochemical industry. It is a large desert area between Tianshan Mountain and Altai mountain. Most of the landform is Gobi desert, which is inclined strip, long from north to South and narrow from east to west. It is the first large oil field after the founding of new China. Since 1960, Karamay has started oil drilling, which is one of the earliest old bases in China. Since 1980, the city has expanded from an oil city to a modern city. Now, the city has a population of 450000. In recent decades, cities have developed tourism and construction. As we approached the city from a distance, a modern city appeared in the middle of the desert. The city has many tourist attractions, and the world’s ghost city has been selected as “the most magnificent Yadan in China” and “one of the 50 most worthy places for foreigners to visit in China”. The city’s main tourist attractions are roughly divided into four parts: natural landscape, oil industry sites, urban landscape and desert ecological agricultural landscape. Among them, the most famous are the world devil City, black oil mountain, Eric lake, Baiyanghe Grand Canyon and wild Populus euphratica forest.
