Yunnan
Yunnan Province, referred to as Yunnan , is located in the southwest, adjacent to Guizhou and Guangxi in the East, Sichuan in the north, Tibet in the northwest, Myanmar in the west, Laos and Vietnam in the south, with a total area of 394100 square kilometers. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. From the north to the south, it falls step by step. It is a mountainous plateau terrain. In 2018, the permanent population of Yunnan Province is 48.295 million. Yunnan is the province with the most ethnic groups in China. There are 15 ethnic groups unique to Yunnan. The population of Yunnan accounts for more than 80% of the total population of this ethnic group in China.
Yunnan has the highest number of animal species in China, known as the animal kingdom. There are 1737 vertebrates, accounting for 58.9% of the total. There are many rare protected animals, such as the bee monkey, Yunnan golden monkey, wild elephant, bison, gibbon, Indochina tiger, rhinoceros, white tailed pheasant and other 46 species, all of which belong to the first category of national protected animals.
