Day 1
Kyrgyzstan → Kashgar (Border Crossing)
Cross into China via the Turugart or Irkeshtam Pass, navigating dramatic mountain scenery. Complete immigration formalities before arriving in Kashgar, a Silk Road hub. Explore the Old City’s labyrinthine alleys and vibrant bazaars. Overnight: KashgarDay 2
Kashgar (Licensing/Plate Process)
Finalize motorcycle registration and Chinese permits. Visit the Id Kah Mosque or stroll through the Sunday Bazaar, Central Asia’s largest open-air market. Overnight: KashgarDay 3
Kashgar → Aksu (450km, 6–7 hours)
Ride northeast through the Taklamakan Desert, passing oasis towns like Maralbexi County. Stop at Upal for a glimpse of Uyghur rural life. Overnight: AksuDay 4
Aksu → Korla (550km, 8–9 hours)
Follow the Tarim Basin to Korla, a gateway to the Tian Shan mountains. Detour to Bosten Lake for serene wetlands and birdwatching. Overnight: KorlaDay 5
Korla → Turpan (370km, 5–6 hours)
Descend into the Turpan Depression (-154m), China’s lowest point. Visit the Flaming Mountains and ancient Jiaohe Ruins, a 2,000-year-old Silk Road city. Overnight: TurpanDay 6
Turpan → Kumul (400km, 6 hours)
Ride through the Gobi Desert to Kumul (Hami), famous for its sweet melons. Explore the Kumul Oasis and Hami King’s Mausoleum. Overnight: KumulDay 7
Kumul → Dunhuang (400km, 6 hours)
Enter Gansu Province, stopping at the Mogao Caves to admire Buddhist art spanning 1,000 years. End the day at Singing Sand Dunes for sunset. Overnight: DunhuangDay 8
Dunhuang → Golmud (530km, 8–9 hours)
Traverse the Qaidam Basin’s salt flats and oilfields. Spot wild camels near Aksay Kazakh Autonomous County. Overnight: GolmudDay 9
Golmud → Wudaoliang (280km, 5–6 hours)
Begin the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, ascending to 4,500m. Pass Kunlun Mountain Pass and the surreal Qinghai Lake salt flats. Overnight: WudaoliangDay 10
Wudaoliang → Yanshiping (370km, 7–8 hours)
Cross Fenghuo Mountain Pass (5,010m) and Tanggula Pass (5,231m), the route’s highest point. Watch for Tibetan antelope in the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve. Overnight: YanshipingDay 11
Yanshiping → Nachu (230km, 5–6 hours)
Ride past glacial rivers and yak herds to Nachu. Visit Tashi Do Monastery, perched beside Namco Lake (4,718m). Overnight: NachuDay 12
Nachu → Lhasa (340km, 6–7 hours)
Descend into Lhasa via Yangbajing Hot Springs. Arrive early to acclimate to the altitude (3,650m). Overnight: LhasaDay 13
Lhasa (Cultural Exploration)
Tour Potala Palace, the Dalai Lama’s winter residence, and Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart. Wander the Barkhor Bazaar for handicrafts and pilgrim encounters. Overnight: LhasaDay 14
Lhasa → Shigatse (280km, 5–6 hours)
Follow the Yarlung Tsangpo River to Shigatse. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. Overnight: ShigatseDay 15
Shigatse → Tashizong Town (320km, 7–8 hours)
Ride to Rongbuk Valley, transferring to eco-buses for Everest Base Camp (5,200m). Explore Rongbuk Monastery with unparalleled views of Mount Everest. Overnight: Tashizong TownDay 16
Tashizong → Kyirung (310km, 7–8 hours)
Traverse Pang La Pass (5,150m) for a final Everest panorama. Descend through alpine forests to Kyirung, near the Nepal border. Overnight: KyirungDay 17
Kyirung → Nepal Border (25km, 1 hour)
