Daming Palace, the main palace of the Tang Dynasty, the political center and national symbol of the Tang Dynasty, formerly known as Yong'an palace, is the largest of the three major palaces in Chang'an city of the Tang Dynasty, known as "dongnei". Daming Palace covers an area of about 3.2 square kilometers, which is 4.5 times of the Forbidden City of Beijing in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Daming Palace is located outside the northern city of Chang'an, near the Royal Forbidden Garden and Weishui in the north, the northern city of Chang'an in the south, and the northeast corner of the palace city in the West. The dragon head used to be the place of three or nine temporary shoots in the north of Daxing city in Sui Dynasty. There are nine gates in Daming Palace City, the main gate of Daming Palace is Danfeng gate in the middle of the south, Wangxian gate and Jianfu gate in the East and West; Xuanwu Gate in the middle of the north, Yinhan gate and Qingxiao gate in the East; left Yintai gate in the East; right Yintai gate and Jiuxian gate in the north and south of the West. The palace structure also changed from the central layout structure centered on the main hall of the dynasty to the symmetrical layout structure centered on the main palace building axis.
