Dunhuang Yadan National Geopark

Yadan National Geopark, commonly known as Dunhuang Yadan devil city. It is located in the west of Gansu Province, within the territory of Dunhuang City, at the junction of Xinjiang and Gansu Province, about 180 kilometers away from Dunhuang city. It is an important part of Dunhuang west line tourist attraction, 168 kilometers away from Dunhuang city. It is located in the north of Yumen pass, with an area of about 400 square kilometers. The scenic area is divided into two areas, North and south. It is mainly the Quaternary geological relics and natural geographical desert landscape formed by wind erosion.In November 2006, it rated as the AAAA tourist attraction by the national tourism bureau. It is a typical representative of the geomorphic type in the climate extreme arid area. The formation of Yadan is formed by lake bottom deposition, crustal change, rain erosion and strong wind erosion, forming regular valleys, hillocks of different heights and sculptures like "street", "Castle", "warship", "pyramid" and other shapes with various types and lifelike.The beauty of Yadan landform mainly embodies five characteristics: strange, dangerous, secluded, ancient and charming. Yadan landform in Dunhuang is the largest, and most mature and most ornamental Yadan landform community in the world, which is rare in the world and is a precious and non renewable natural heritage.
