It is located at Lingyun temple on the East Bank of South Minjiang River in Leshan City, near the confluence of Dadu River, Qingyi River and Minjiang River. It was carved from the hillside in the 8th century. It is the largest cliff stone statue in China and the highest stone Buddha statue in the world. The statue and its surrounding areas are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO; the Buddha has a head height of 14.7 meters, a head width of 10 meters, a bun of 1021, ears of 7 meters, nose of 5.6 meters, eyebrows of 5.6 meters, mouth and eyes of 3.3 meters, neck of 3 meters, shoulder of 24 meters, fingers of 8.3 meters, from knee to instep of 28 meters, instep of 8.5 meters, and feet of more than 100 people. On the cliffs along the river on the left and right sides of the Buddha, there are also two stone carvings of Dharma protectors with a height of more than 16 meters, forming a pattern of one Buddha and two heavenly kings together with the Buddha. Its two ears and the back of the head have a hidden drainage system, which plays an important role in protecting the Buddha and making the Buddha not eroded by rain. Along the ridge cloud plank road on the left side of the Buddha, you can directly reach the bottom of the Buddha. Look up at the Buddha here, and you will feel the feeling of looking up.
