Xinjiang
Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is at the heart of the Eurasian Continent, situated in the northwest part of China. It has an area of 1.66 million square kilometers which is about one-sixth of the total area of China. The entire region of Xinjiang features “two basins flanked by three mountains”. Xinjiang is located in the middle of Asia, a vital gateway of the Silk Road, which connects China with Southern Asia, Western Asia as well as Europe. In the past 2000 years, through the international trading passage – The Silk Road, the products and techniques from China, such as Silk fabric, powder, medical materials, paper making, and compass, etc., spread into the western world. Xinjiang is the hometown of singing and dancing, fruits, gold, and jade. There are 56 types of national tourism resources in Xinjiang, accounting for 83% of the total. There are more than 1100 scenic spots in Xinjiang, ranking first in the country. There is the second highest peak in the world with an altitude of 8600 meters and the lowest depression in China with an altitude of 154 meters
